Peacocking with pink?
« on: July 03, 2008, 07:18:22 AM »
I have been working on my wardrobe lately - even went to the point of going through all my clothes (I have a lot) and thinking - do I actually look good in this? Does it make me stand out? Does it fit well? Can my internal alpha be communicated by this? and for anything that didn't - out!

I've also been investing some $ in new clothes - I LREADY have a lot of nice business type clothes, I'm really working on my streetwear right now. I grew up in NY and when I know I'm hitting the look, people are always asking if I'm from there. Either that or they ask if I'm a musician, which also means I'm hitting it.

But here's the thing. I tend to wear a lot of dark clothes. Blacks, blues, greys - a lot of black. A typical uniform for me is dr martens, a pair of black dr. martens,  $100 jeans from Buckle or something, and a plain black t-shirt. I've been ordering some from threadless.com and have had good luck from them (awesome resource if you want a conversation starter t-shirt guys! threadless is the hip fucking shit - and you WILL see trendy chicks in threadless shirts and can open open on them with that. Best thing is to bust on them for mail ordering their trendiness and then when they get defensive reward by saying you're kidding and anyone who loves threadless as much as you has to be almost as cool as you.)

When I've been peacocking lately at clubs at night, I've been doing it by just.... wearing sunglasses. I went out last saturday doing this and actually got opened on by six HB 7 and 8's. One said she liked how I walked, another got close and wanted to look at my eyes. Another sat next to me on the couch and did some kino. I did a number close on one I actually wanted to talk to again.

Anyway!

So about peacocking. I have thought about looking for a pink shirt or 2 and experimenting with them. Now, I've never worn a pink article of clothing in my LIFE. Ever. I always thought, I don't want to look like I suck cock. But now I'm thinking differently. I think it might help in building comfort with my approaches. VERY few guys wear pink. The one I know who pulls is off is a total natural - he lives in SF of all places and he's magnetic and ladies love him. Lately my self confidence is at an all time high, and I'm in the mode of breaking old patterns, so I think this might be a good time to try it. I already feel comfortable in any look I can pull off, ranging from nyc type street wear to preppy to mr. business guy.

Sorry for the monologue dudes - just wanted to post something more substantial than a 1 line question SHUD I WAER PINK?

 8)

So here's what I'm thinking.

It takes self confidence for a guy to wear pink. This will say a lot before I even make an approach - that I'm different.

I'm a 6' guy with big shoulders and a shaved head. It's hard to be scared of a guy when he's wearing pink. It's totally non threatening.

The same way my beloved black clothes convey mystery, pink will, too.

I have the feeling it will look sick under my classic blue Ralph Lauren sport jacket.

It will give me an excuse to try it out in different environments and work on my approaches and convo and attraction skills. Purpose is good in life!

So - have any of you experimented with pink shirts? Or shirts that have pink elements on them, like dress shirts etc? I'm thinking I'll look for a pink Polo type short sleeve - some really sharp name brand shit that fits right from somewhere in Fashion Square.

If you've tried this, how did it work for you? I know everyone is diff in what they can pull off, just wanted to get some feedback before I do - not that your bad experience etc will dissuade me. But your good ones might encourage! But fuck it I'm doing it anyway.

I'm not a fan of pink, but I am a fan of confidence. If you think you can pull it off and make it look good, do it and do it the best.

honestly the only dudes i've ever seen to pull off pink are black dudes or those dark ass guido or persian armani exchange douchtards, either way i've heard girls diss dudes in pink shirts in/directly multiple times. the problem i see with pink specifically on a dude is that it's not very masculine. idc how much confidence you have in yourself if you're not coming off as masculine or dominant then the shirt is pointless.

Ehh. I have mixed feelings about this. For myself...I consider myself pretty tan, AND I have been lifting weights for about 1 1/2...religiously. Although, I'm 5'11, I'm kinda a bigger/leaner guy. And I've been told I can rock pink. I have 3 polos, and another pink shirt.

If your a skinny, pale person who looks like they just stepped out of a cave for the first time in 3 months, and is 130 pounds, then yes, you shouldn't be wearing pink.

Do you think Mystery who wears make-up is masculine? Or Style wearing purple coats is masculine?

If you think you look good, then that is all that matters... when I'm in a peacockin' mood, I rock some eccentric girls style glasses and people hardly ever question it because I have such a confident, fun, not caring personality... and if you want to wear pink, go for it... I am personally a big fan of pink because it does set you apart from everyone else, which is basically what being a PUA is all about.

i tend to agree with Phoenixpua on the one. im not a fan of pink because it seems to common these days with people who think they're breaking the mold (same people that wear hollister shirts with popped collars and think theyre original). but peacocking is used to stand out and pink will make you stand out. just to me, it has a negative connotation so it may not be beneficial.

but its all about confidence. if you feel like don juan in a pink polo with a popped collar, go for it. just be comfortable with what you're wearing and good things will happen
