Brushing Tip
« on: July 31, 2006, 02:50:20 PM »
I read this on mASF, and have been doing it ever since... and I think my teeth have gotten whiter because of it.  I am judging the whiteness of my teeth on pictures taken of me recently... I used to be looking at pics of me, and thinking my teeth looked pretty yellow.  I was considering getting whitening strips or something, but I'm decently happy after I implemented this tip.  Anyway, the brushing tip is... to brush your teeth with a dry brush before you put toothpaste on your brush and wet it.  The dry brush has more friction and removes more plaque from your teeth.  Supposedly you should just think as the toothpaste as a polisher, while the dry brushing is the thing that really cleans it.  Give it a try.

This sounds great. I am personally VERY self-concious about my teeth. They aren't bad or anything, but they could always be better. I'll give it a try :D

Toothpaste is actually just an abrasive paste. It's got tiny amounts of diotomite (sp?) which basically acts like a sand paper on your teeth just on a MICROSCOPIC scale. This is what removes the plaque and gives teeth their shine.

Dry brushing first makes a hell of a lot of sense. It's just like going over your dress shoes with a dry cloth first, then buffing the shit of them.

Thanks for the oral hygenie tips... and I just want to point something that I thought was kinda funny... Vinnie's only post ever was about how he is self-conscious about his teeth... he posted that... and then he's gone.
